WarpStor Drastically Reduces Storage Requirements, IO Bandwidth, and Creation Time for Engineering Workspaces

San Francisco, CA May 27, 2015 – Methodics Inc, a leader in IP management solutions for complex System-on-Chip designs, today announced its latest innovation – WarpStorTM, a content-aware, network attached storage (NAS) optimizer and accelerator as a complement to ProjectICTM, Methodics’ IP management platform.  By leveraging ProjectIC’s unique abstraction model that provides for smart data management, WarpStor allows large design teams to create multiple workspaces across multiple geographies in seconds and, at the same time, reduce storage and IO bandwidth requirements by as much as 90%.  This translates directly to big savings in both engineering time and in network storage costs.

User workspaces are built by WarpStor as fully functional ‘Clones’ from an existing master. These clones start off close to zero-size, but to the OS, the contained files appear like any others on disk. The cloning is transparent to all users, the OS, and applications that operate on these files.

As users or applications modify files in this workspace, WarpStor makes the actual files available in the workspace instantaneously using ‘Copy-On-Write’ technology. Unlike other systems, WarpStor optimizes user workspaces at create-time.
