Launch of New IP Portal Connects IP Consumers with IP Providers

San Francisco, CA, June 2, 2019 – SemiWiki.com, the open forum for semiconductor professionals and a leading online community of people involved with electronic devices and the semiconductor design ecosystem, today announced the launch of a new industry-wide portal to help IP consumers quickly and easily find the 3rd party IP they need to meet critical design schedules.  SemiWiki chose Methodics IP Lifecycle Management (IPLM) solution, Percipient (TM), as the underlying platform to power and manage the portal.

Percipient is a dynamic IP management system such that incremental design updates are readily available to users.  Users can be notified when updates are available and then have the choice whether or not to install the updates. Through this process, version history is maintained which assures that traceability is also maintained.  This is in contrast to tarball based solutions which are static in nature, causing version history of managed files to be broken and which also allows unmanaged files - which are inherently untraceable - to be introduced into the design process.  

The IP Portal is launching with an initial set of IP Provider Partners and is planned to rapidly expand throughout the remainder of 2019.  eSilicon, FlexLogix, Mentor, and others are among the first providers to be included.

Prior to joining Methodics, John was most recently Senior Director of Sales for Entercoms, focused on helping customers innovate in the Services Supply Chain. Hierarchical approach for better efficiency

Maxim looked to Methodics for its ability to manage hierarchical IP. Methodics Integrates Industry Proven Neo4j Graph Database to Improve Performance and Efficiency of Hierarchical IC Design Data Management

IP lifecycle management solution adds innovative graph database capability to reduce engineering time and effort in design creation, management and collaboration

San Francisco, CA -  October 18, 2017 – Methodics Inc, the leader in IP lifecycle management, storage optimization, and workspace acceleration solutions for complex System-on-Chip designs, today announced an OEM partnership with Neo4j, the creator of the market leading Graph Platform for connected data.  The partnership brings a more efficient and higher performing way to manage hierarchical design data within the Methodics environment through Neo4j’s intuitive and visual graph database.

Through the agreement, Methodics has integrated the Neo4j graph database with its Percipient solution to power the system’s core data models. This significantly improves the performance and scalability over the previous SQL Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) that the solution used in enabling engineering teams to create, check out, modify, and check in their design workspaces.

Initial results of the integration show a dramatic improvement in performance, especially as designs increase in complexity and the number of hierarchy nodes explode. Analysis conducted with real designs show a major reduction in the time to manage common tasks, such as querying the status of a hierarchical IP in a workspace or generating trees to view conflicts, often reducing interactions from minutes to seconds, even as designs scale to 100’s of thousands, even millions of nodes.

“In today’s SoC design environment, it is common for engineering workspaces to contain 10’s or even 100’s of gigabytes of data.  With such large workspaces, it is important that the data and IP management solutions tracking this data performs very fast,” said Peter Theunis, CTO for Methodics.  “By evolving from SQL and building our solution on top of the production proven Neo4j graph database, we have made the data management process much more efficient and scalable for complex designs, thus reducing overall development time for large, disperse engineering teams.”

Unlike a RDBM system, the Neo4j graph database, which has been proven across a variety of applications and industries, stores data as a series of nodes and relationships, with key-value style properties on both. This is especially critical when representing hierarchy. In traditional, table-based databases, hierarchical structures are not a natural fit because a hierarchical structure has a mix of data and metadata (the relationships between nodes in the hierarchy) that are both equally important. This mix of metadata and data may be a problem when using other underlying data models. However, the Neo4j graph database allows users to directly connect nodes according to their data model, which allows for a very fast, flexible and scalable hierarchy representation.

San Francisco, CA February 8, 2016 – Methodics Inc, a leader in IP and data management and storage optimization and workspace acceleration solutions for complex System-on-Chip designs, today reported a record year-over-year doubling of revenue for 2015 over 2014. The rise in revenue is due to increased adoption by many new customers and an expansion within the existing customer base. 

“2015 was Methodics’ most successful year ever, with year-over-year growth of 100% versus 2014, and 60% of that growth as a result of displacing competitor products.  This continued success is the result of our commitment to making the best, most innovative products for data and IP management, and it’s a testament to the tremendous execution of our teams,” said Simon Butler, President and CEO. “As we head into 2016, we have our strongest product lineup yet, along with an impressive line-up of technology and sales channel partners and a larger direct sales team.”

San Francisco, CA May 27, 2015 – Methodics Inc, a leader in IP management solutions for complex System-on-Chip designs, today announced its latest innovation – WarpStorTM, a content-aware, network attached storage (NAS) optimizer and accelerator as a complement to ProjectICTM, Methodics’ IP management platform.  By leveraging ProjectIC’s unique abstraction model that provides for smart data management, WarpStor allows large design teams to create multiple workspaces across multiple geographies in seconds and, at the same time, reduce storage and IO bandwidth requirements by as much as 90%.  This translates directly to big savings in both engineering time and in network storage costs.

As users or applications modify files in this workspace, WarpStor makes the actual files available in the workspace instantaneously using ‘Copy-On-Write’ technology. Unlike other systems, WarpStor optimizes user workspaces at create-time.
